AIMEN-DF offers different workforce training programs, providing a set of knowledge, methods, technical and managerial skills on digital and Advanced Manufacturing technologies. Knowledge transfer is approached in a totally flexible way, ranging from webinars to training courses in the use of new technologies and developing pathways towards industry 5.0 concepts.

The Didactic Factory also supports technology validation for tech-providers, testing the interaction, adaptation and acceptance of new technologies by workers. The degree of acceptance and operational usability of new technologies can be directly evaluated in a controlled environment. AIMEN-DF takes advantage of the knowledge, competences, technologies and infrastructure gained by AIMEN in these last years to accelerate the adoption of more precise, intelligent, efficient and flexible manufacturing methodologies in many different industrial sectors.

  • Laser-based materials processing
    Laser based manufacturing: welding of metals and advanced surface patterning

    Overview of laser applications in material processing, focusing on laser beam welding and surface texturing and functionalization. It includes equipment selection, process setup, and the use of sensors and tools for beam analysis and process monitoring. Participants will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, with tutorials and mentoring from technical experts.

    Laser cladding: repair technology and surface functionalization

    This course focuses on demonstrating the skills of laser cladding technology for coating, repairing, and remanufacturing metal component surfaces.

    Advanced laser welding

    Overview of laser welding applications in material processing, covering equipment selection and process setup. It includes three hands-on activities: laser welding of polymers, welding of dissimilar metallic joints, and hybrid laser welding of metals.

    Laser beam welding (LBW) fundamentals

    This course aims to deliver essential skills in the use of LBW technologies including topics as basic principles of laser technology, an overview of industrial laser processes, an in-depth understanding of LBW and quality assurance, safety requirements, etc.

    Surface functionalization by laser patterning

    Overview of laser applications in surface functionalization for industry professionals. It covers key technical aspects for selecting equipment and setting up processes. The course includes three hands-on activities: direct laser patterning, advanced surface engineering and nanopatterning, and surface characterization techniques. Attendees will learn to choose patterning strategies based on desired surface topography and functional behaviour.

    Directed Energy Deposition (DED)

    Projection-based Augmented Reality

    Hands-on sessions to guide trainees to set up and deploy two different projection systems as they work on a supervised, hands-on, team-based project. Provides an interactive learning experience in assisting workers in the precise positioning of non-structural elements.
